Born and raised in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago, IL, Damara Kaminecki begun her art career painting cows at Gallery 37 for Chicago’s Outdoor “Cows on Parade” Exhibition. Moving to Brooklyn to attend Pratt Institute, she concentrated in figure drawing. While in school, she was able to do internships at The International Print Center and Dieu Donne Papermill, both non-profit spaces, exposing her to the world of Works on Paper.-
After graduating in 2004 with a BFA in Drawing, she went on to work as an artist assistant and became involved in the bookbinding community, specifically the non-profit artist collective Booklyn.
Damara currently travels between NY and Chicago, working freelance as an illustrator, artist assistant and on her own portfolio.
